The Alternative Album Cover for Darko Vibes’ Debut Album
This painting was created during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. While I was online, I received a message from the manager of Darko Vibes, an up-and-coming artist, expressing interest in my work. He mentioned wanting to discuss a potential collaboration between himself and his artist, Darko Vibes, who was already gaining recognition for his hit song “Tomorrow.” The track had made waves across the country the previous year.
After a brief conversation, the manager pitched the idea of me creating the album cover. I didn’t think twice—it was going to be my first official cover art for a music album, and I was thrilled. The opportunity meant I could contribute to the intersection of art and music, a prospect that excited me deeply.
Ahead of the album’s release, I was granted early access to listen to the tracks, draw inspiration, and develop a concept. I was given full creative control, with just one suggestion: “Put some drums on it.” However, there was a catch: they needed the artwork completed in two weeks, as the album was set to drop shortly after.
Though it was a tight deadline, I embraced the challenge. I began without a clear plan, but the moment I stood in front of the canvas, I trusted my intuition and started painting. By the end, I had created two pieces I was proud of. This painting was the second one. Ultimately, Darko Vibes and his team chose the first design.
Till this day, im proud of both of the artworks.
